Announcement - I-90 EA Public Meeting - August 12, 2008

Public Meeting
Announcement

An informal public meeting/open house is scheduled for Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at 5:00 at Stagestop Receptions, 7900 Stagestop Road (Just west of I-90 Exit 48). Comments on the EA must either be submitted at that meeting, on the website (Comment Form), or sent to Terry Keller by US mail or fax no later than August 25, 2008.

Federal approval of the EA and subsequent decision document would be followed by final design, right-of-way acquisition, and then phased construction of the improvements. Service road realignments would most likely be built first. Construction schedules for the proposed improvements would be determined by the availability of federal funding.

The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) has completed work on an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the I-90 corridor between Exit 40 and Exit 51.

Please see the location of the project and read about the general scope of it on the Study Area page. The proposed alternative alignments for the north and south service roads appear on the Alternatives page. Public comments received at the two public meetings are summarized on the Public Meetings page.

For the past year the project team has been preparing an EA, which is a decision document that defines the purpose and need, benefits, impacts, and environmental mitigation measures for the proposed improvements. See the Background page for more about the EA process.
